India Masters Pull Off Thrilling Victory Against Sri Lanka Masters in IML T20 Opener

The DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai witnessed a heart-stopping T20 thriller as the India Masters managed to hold their nerve, clinching a four-run victory over the Sri Lanka Masters in the much-anticipated opener of the International Masters League (IML) 2025.
India's Powerful Batting Display
India Masters took to the crease first and posted a commanding total of 222/4. The innings was marked by an electrifying knock from Stuart Binny, who hammered 68 runs off just 31 balls, including seven towering sixes. His explosive batting was well supported by Yusuf Pathan, who remained unbeaten at a fiery 56 off 22 balls.
Adding to the fireworks, Gurkeerat Singh Mann chipped in with a solid 44 from 32 deliveries, setting a strong foundation for India. These batting feats pushed the target out of reach for many, or so it seemed.

Sri Lanka's Spirited Chase
The Sri Lankan side, led by cricketing stalwart Kumar Sangakkara, started their chase with determination. Sangakkara top-scored with a robust 51 off 30 balls, setting the pace for the innings. However, despite his efforts, the Sri Lankan innings wavered under pressure.
Their hopes were rekindled by the late innings heroics of Jeevan Mendis and Asela Gunaratne. Mendis smashed 42 in only 17 balls, while Gunaratne garnered 37 off 25, bringing the target tantalizingly close. Yet, the Sri Lankans faltered at the crucial moments, finishing at 218/9, just shy of the target.
Irfan Pathan proved essential in turning the game around for India. His bowling figures of 3/39 helped dismantle the middle order, applying the brakes when Sri Lanka looked poised for a successful chase. Abhimanyu Mithun held his nerve in the tense final over, his 2/41 figures sealing the win for the hosts.
Adding to the allure, legends like Sachin Tendulkar and Yuvraj Singh graced the field, with Singh contributing an unbeaten 31*. The match was not just about the high stakes but also about witnessing these cricketing icons in action, celebrated by an enthusiastic crowd.
